About the Course
If you are looking to take your paddleboarding skills to a new level, then why not try downriver SUP on white water rapids! This course will be all about developing your SUP skills to work in a river setting and applying these new ideas as we take on rapids up to grade 2.
We will aim to work on core river SUP skills such as managing height, balance, effective forward paddling, river reading & safety, and much more. We hope that by the end of the course you will leave with a new found love for this amazing niche, a sense of adventure and some great skills to practice to up your SUP ability.
Each day we'll meet at a location central to our river options for the course. We'll have a quick briefing over a coffee and then head out for a river adventure. On the water we'll balance technical coaching with adventure mentoring to help you gain experience on the river in a holistic way.
You will need to bring
Your paddleboarding equipment: board, paddle, buoyancy aid, helmet, wetsuit or drysuit, shoes to wear on the river. Let us know if there is anything that you don't have. Board / kit hire is available at an additional fee.
A packed lunch and drinking water. You should bring a drybag to keep them in while on the water.
What level of paddler is this aimed at?
This courses is aimed at confident flat water SUPers or those who have just started their journey into paddleboarding on white water. You should be able to paddle your board while standing in calm waters and be able to move your feet on the board. You should be able to get back onto your board if fallen off in sheltered water and be comfortable in the water.
If your a capable whitewater kayaker (grade 2+) with minimal SUP experience then we can adapt your existing skills to this course.
What is included in the course?
Professional guiding & coaching from an experienced and qualified member of staff.
An action plan for your progression going forward, and further remote input whenever you seek it.
Access to the Paddle365 long-term Mentorship program.
Digital copies of any photos from the trip.
What is NOT included in the course?
Accommodation and food. Contact us for hotel recommendations local to our most likely course venues.
Transport to and from the river (unless agreed otherwise).
Boat hire or equipment use (This can be arranged at additional cost. Please contact us if you require anything).
Car parking or facility fees.

BCAB Advanced Whitewater Kayak Performance Coach (Equivalent to old BCU level 5)

Bio:
A highly experienced kayaker and passionate coach; Jamie made a bid to escape the London life he was born to by devoting as much time to adventure kayaking as is humanly possibly. With a long list of major river descents across the world to his name, his personal experience is matched by his enthusiasm and passion. Jamie is a Pyranha Kayaks and NRS Europe team member.
