About the Course

Looking to lead kayakers on grade 4 rivers? Are you already a white water leader looking after paddlers for work or for your club and would like to increase your remit? Perhaps you'd feel more comfortable peer paddling grade 4 rivers after some development of your own leadership and safety knowledge?


Here we have the full package of 2 days Advanced White Water Safety training followed by Advanced White Water Leader training to develop your skills and knowledge for the demanding role of an advanced river leader. The course is based up in Scotland to give the best chance of finding grade 4 rivers to paddle as well as a variety of styles of whitewater that you'll encounter on your journey as a leader.


This course is guaranteed to push you, advance your leadership knowledge and tactics, and send you towards assessment with a firm idea of the steps you should take to get ready.


What level of paddler is this aimed at? 

This course is for anyone looking to progress onto becoming an Advanced White Water Leader. For this award you'll need to be comfortable paddling grade 4 rivers. There's no formal pre-requisites for this course but PaddleUK advise that you should be at the standard of the 'Advanced White Water Award'.


For assessment you need to have completed the Advanced Whitewater Safety course. The leadership training isn't required but highly recommended and will give you a great action plan for what you need to do before being assessed.

What is included in the course?

  • Professional guiding & coaching from an experienced and qualified member of staff.

  • An action plan for your progression going forward, and further remote input whenever you seek it.

  • Digital copies of any photos from the trip.

What is NOT included in the course?

  • Accommodation and food. Contact us for hotel recommendations local to our most likely course venues.

  • Transport to and from the river (unless agreed otherwise).

  • Boat hire or equipment use (This can be arranged at additional cost. Please contact us if you require anything).

  • Car parking or facility fees.​

A highly experienced kayaker and passionate coach; Jamie made a bid to escape the London life he was born to by devoting as much time to adventure kayaking as is humanly possibly. With a long list of major river descents across the world to his name, his personal experience is matched by his enthusiasm and passion. Jamie is a Pyranha Kayaks and NRS Europe team member.
